Baker's Dozen: The Geopolitics of Georgia

Mar 12, 2021 | 10:00 GMT

In this episode of Baker's Dozen, a new podcast series that looks at the geopolitical situations of individual countries, host Rodger Baker speaks with Lasha Kasradze, a Eurasia analyst who specializes in the Caucasus about Georgia.

As noted in a recent update from Stratfor Worldview: "Georgia has been gripped by a tense political standoff since the Feb. 23 arrest of UNM leader Neka Melia for allegedly inciting violence during anti-government protests in 2019." Amid the country's internal tensions, Like Armenia and Azerbaijan, the volatile situation on the ground in Georgia highlights the tentative geopolitical situation of the Greater Caucasus, where great powers and lesser powers have been jockeying for position.
