Summary
Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza was at an undisclosed location May 14 — somewhere in Burundi, according to his Twitter account — a day after Burundian military forces announced his dismissal from office. While the attempted coup against the Burundian president is in a state of limbo, Nkurunziza probably will not be able to return to power in his previous capacity. An interim accord, brokered by mediators from neighboring African states, that curtails the president's term in office and possibly creates a temporary power-sharing arrangement will likely emerge.
